DescriptionRectangular top with drop leaves on either side, both with original hinges. Four thick cabriole legs end in five-part rather than trifid feet. Two of the four are legs hinged so that they swing out to support the leaves. The cutout design of the end skirt panels, which are flush with the upper part of the legs, continue into the corner blocks and cabriole legs. The table retains an early finish.
Curatorial RemarksAlthough influenced by Philadelphia cabinetmaking, the table reflects workmanship preferences from outside that urban production center. For example, the end rails lack moldings typically found on tables made in the city.
