DescriptionMedal made of a decorative pin bar with a round medallion suspended by one chain link. The pin bar is decorated in an art nouveau-style relief, marked, "NEWARK / JULY 6TH SURVIVOR '95 / ASBURY PARK." The pendant, with irregular edges, has a relief of a nude male figure balancing gracefully with one foot on a winged unicycle. Around the border, a relief of stylized lettering reads, "CENTURY RUN / A.C.C. OF N.Y."
NotesThe Century Run was a distance of 100 miles, covered on bicycle, rather than on foot. The first year, 1895, was apparently plagued by rainy weather and muddy conditions, and only three boys and one man completed the race.
