Curatorial RemarksThe bugle is used mainly in the military and Boy Scouts, where the bugle call is used to indicate the daily routines of camp. Historically the bugle was used in cavalry to relay instructions from officers to soldiers during battle and give marching orders to the camps.NotesThis bugle was used during the Spanish-American War by the 3rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry, Company I. The 3rd Regiment mustered into service in Sea Girt, Monmouth County, in 1898.
