DescriptionTwo children in dark clothing, possibly brother and sister. Both wear dark clothing and fine gold chains; the smaller child holds a finely detailed toy soldier. The ivory is set in a molded floral case.Curatorial RemarksThis portrait miniature was likely worn as a brooch, evident by its decorative floral case with pin fastening on the back. Presumably the brooch belonged to the childrens' mother. Both children are dressed in black, indicating that perhaps they are in mourning.
