DescriptionPortrait of a young girl facing left, with a short haircut and blue eyes. She is wearing a white Empire-waist dress with pink bows and ribbons at the shoulders, and a white necklace. Her right arm is down at her side, and she holds a basket of red berries in her left hand. The pastel is in its original frame, which includes a reverse painted black mat on glass with a gold leaf line on its inner edge.
Curatorial RemarksThis charming pastel is not done in the familiar style of Micah Williams, James Martin, James Van Dyke, or any other portrait artist known to have worked in central New Jersey at this time.
