Another legend to the left of the main block reads, "Hull by Devine Burtis Red Hook / Length over all 223 ft / Breadth 65 ft 6" / Depth of Hold 13 ft 6" / Joiner work by J. E. Brown N. Y." And a third legend to the right of the main block reads "Engine by Cobanks & Theal New York / Diameter of cylinder 50 in. / Stroke 12 ft. / Diameter of wheel 24 ft."

DescriptionA side view of a double-ended, side paddle wheel steamboat named "New Jersey," shown under way on water with a slight chop traveling from right to left. Flags and banners fly from four flagpoles and the single iron stack, while the United States flag and a patriotic pennant is seen on a fifth flagpole at the stern. A large group of people can be seen on the bow of the main deck on the left, and a few other individuals and horse-drawn vehicles on the stern. A red and black painted walking beam engine powers two red painted paddlewheels. The large main cabin is lit by many large, round headed windows. Two octagonal wheel houses sit on the roof above the vessel's ends, and a single lifeboat is depicted above the decorative paddle wheel housing that is emblazoned with the name of the boat. Other sailing vessels can be seen in the distance.
