Curatorial RemarksBeginning around the time of the Great Depression, towns along the Atlantic Coast opened seasonal assistance centers to help migrant farm workers and their families with housing, food, education, and health issues. In the 1940s and 1950s, the Freehold center was located at the Court Street School, a segregated school for black students.
