DescriptionAn unfinished quilt top in a Flying Geese variation, consisting of both hand-and machine-sewn triangles in seven vertical rows, with sashing of plain orange cotton. The cotton prints include stripes, florals, geometrics, and plaids ranging from circa 1870s through 1890s.
NotesThe quilt entered the collection with the notation that it was made by "Mrs. Thomas Addision Barnes," but the maker was not further identified. Donor Winifred Gould Cave (Mrs. Arthur J.) (1884-1985) was the daughter of John A. Gould (1849-1926) and Sarah Diesel (1850-1920). It is unknown whether the quilt descended from Mrs. Cave's maternal or paternal family line.
