DescriptionBlack and white print of a stiple engraving featuring a sculptural bust of George Washingto in a coat and cravat. The bust sits atop a decorated pedestal. Beneath the base of the bust is a printed scroll of the U.S. Constitution.NotesWashington's likeness appears to be based on "The Athanaeum Portrait," an unfinished painting of the President done by Gilbert Stuart created in 1796. Stuart's work also served as the model for Washington's portrait seen on the one-dollar bill.
