DescriptionA stand with an oval top featuring an inlaid band around its edge. A pair of cleats with shaped ends on the underside of the top are attached with pins to a small block at the top of the pedestal in such a way as to allow the top to swing upright for storage. A brass spring latch on the underside secures the top when in use. The top assembly sits on a baluster turned pedestal. Three cabriole legs end in pad feet.
Curatorial RemarksThe pedestal turnings, legs and feet of this stand are very similar but not identical to accession number 1990.539. Variations include the oval shaped top, a band of inlay around its edge, cleats on the underside of the top that have shaped ends, and feet that are flatter in profile.
