DescriptionThis black painted ash and maple Windsor bow back arm chair features a rounded rail with seven plain turned spindles fitting into a curved medial rail which extends to form arms ending in simple tabs. Four short plain turned spindles run from the medial rail to the oval seat, along with a pair of baluster turned arm supports. The seat rests upon four baluster turned and splayed legs braced with an "H" style, bulbous turned stretcher assembly.
NotesA handwritten penciled inscription on the seat underside reads "Read. June 4th 1889 / Had been in the Herbert family for 125 years and possibly much longer. Presented to / Peter Tilton and Hannah his wife / she being the daughter of / Hampton and Mary S. Herbert of / Herbertsville, Ocean County, NJ." Mrs. J. Amory Haskell purchased the chair from Edna M.
